At the crossroads of creativity and self-discovery, Kaiyah Mercedes, an 18 year old LGBTQIA+ artist from the Mornington Peninsula brings vibrant hues of indie pop through her authentic voice, while connecting with listeners to find solace in her melodies and truth in their lyrics.
Diagnosed with autism and ADHD at the age of 15 Kaiyah uses her songwriting to translate the world around them and draws sonic inspiration from an eclectic array of influences – from the introspective lyricism of Phoebe Bridgers to the infectious melodies of Soccer Mommy.
Kaiyah has already gained recognition by Triple J Unearthed for her deep and introspective lyrics, with the release of their debut album ‘Hindsight’ and sophomore album’ ‘Trying to Hate You’ in May 2024 and is celebrating a collective 1,000,000 streams on her catalogue of songs, with the support of numerous Spotify Editorial Playlists.
As a live performer, Kaiyah has supported Leo Sayer and Joe Camelleri at the Palais Theatre, viral busking sensation Ishan, and plays regular venues around Melbourne including The Bergy Bandroom, Kindred Bandroom, Bergy Seltzer and The Workers Club to name a few.
Taking this second album to the next level, Kaiyah will be playing with their band to bring a different soundscape to their set.
