Compared to the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Olivia Rodrigo and Hatchie, Ella Dunshea is a hidden gem from Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula.
Ella is a singer and songwriter – she combines her love of poetry and storytelling with folk / indie pop / rock sounds. She released her debut single ‘If Only’ in January of 2024 after a year of performing local gigs, opening for the likes of Fossil Beach, Fancy Face and Sledgehammer Honey. Ella turned her own debut headline show into a charity event to raise money for Black Dog Institute and local grief support group Projex J, following the death of someone close in her life.
Ella’s latest release, her debut EP ‘Glass Half Empty’, has been a work in progress for almost four years. It is a collection of songs that was written by Ella from ages fifteen to eighteen and was recorded in 2023 with producers at Magic Mountain Records. The EP was celebrated the night of its release at a sold out, intimate launch party in Fitzroy.
